The president of EDA, Jean Pierre Mangeot, was actively eight years instructor for divers of the Canadian army and later than diving instructor for the police sports club Offenburg. He founded IDA with another three companions in 1996 and he was appointed as a vice-president the HIF (Handi various International Foundation) in St. Malo in 1998.
In the year 1999 he assumed in addition the office of the vice-president of the CMAS-Germany. He ended his engagement with IDA in 2002 and retired completely from the association. It founded the European Diving Association be able to put to the foreground around the skin-diving again and the quality demanded of the CMAS of the education be able to ensure in 2002.
During its long-standing active examining teacher job as CMAS-diving teacher Jean Pierre Mangeot has checked hundreds of diving teachers.
European Diving Association" GmbH, briefly, called EDA, also was founded by the idea, to incorparate the professionalism of many American associations and the current developments in diving with the high education standards of the VDST/CMAS " (regulated in the DIN EN serieses of standards 14153 series, DIN EN 14413 series and DIN EN 14467). One main tasc of EDA is the worldwide education of diving teacher according to the latest standards and by means of innovative teaching methods. EDA-diving teachers are regarded as guarantors for sure and easy learning in dive sport.
The latest developments in the German diving scene show that this thought was right. While the CMAS recognition was withdrawn for many associations, EDA has been included in the CMAS-Germany by the VDST
EDA holds dive instructor and crossover examinations at home and abroad repeatedly in the year and trains divers and diving teachers with innovative teaching methods according to the latest standards. Altogether, the association counts at the moment many hundred members and belongs to the strongest associations of the diving thus obviously. We are represented among others in abroad: Croatia, Ibiza, Costa Brava, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, the South of France, Egypt, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Martin, St. Andre, Antigua, and many more.
Der Präsident der EDA – Jean Pierre Mangeot – war acht Jahre Ausbilder für Taucher der kanadischen Armee und später als Tauchausbilder für den Polizeisportverein Offenburg tätig. 1996 gründete er mit drei weiteren Gesellschaftern die IDA und 1998 wurde er als Vizepräsident der HIF (Handi-Divers-International Foundation) in St. Malo berufen.
Im Jahr 1999 übernahm er zusätzlich das Amt des Vizepräsidenten der CMAS-Germany. 2002 beendete er sein Engagement bei der IDA und zog sich gänzlich aus dem Verband zurück. Um den Tauchsport wieder in den Vordergrund stellen zu können und die von der CMAS geforderte Qualität der Ausbildung gewährleisten zu können gründete er 2002 die European Diving Association.
Während seiner langjährigen aktiven Prüflehrertätigkeit als CMAS-Tauchlehrer hat Jean Pierre Mangeot hunderte von Tauchlehrern geprüft.
Die „European Diving Association“ GmbH – kurz EDA genannt – wurde auch aus der Idee heraus gegründet, die Professionalität vieler amerikanischer Verbände und die aktuellen Entwicklungen im Tauchsport mit den hohen Ausbildungsstandards des VDST / CMAS (geregelt in den DIN-EN-Normenreihen 14153 Serie, DIN-EN 14413 Serie und DIN-EN 14467) zu vereinen. Dabei hat EDA es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, mittels innovativer Lehrmethoden, weltweit Tauchlehrer nach den neuesten Standards aus- und weiterzubilden. EDA-Tauchlehrer gelten als Garanten für sicheres und leichtes erlernen des Tauchsports.
Dass dieser Gedanke richtig war, zeigen die jüngsten Entwicklungen im deutschen Tauchsportbereich. Während vielen Verbänden die CMAS Anerkennung entzogen wurde, ist die EDA durch den VDST in die CMAS-Germany aufgenommen worden.
Die EDA hält mehrmals im Jahr im In- und Ausland TL- und Crossoverprüfungen ab und bildet Taucher und Tauchlehrer mit innovativen Lehrmethoden nach den neuesten Standards aus. Insgesamt zählt der Verband zur Zeit viele Hundert Mitglieder und gehört damit eindeutig mit zu den stärksten Verbänden des Tauchsports. Im Ausland sind wir u.a. vertreten in: Kroatien, Ibiza, Costa Brava, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Südfrankreich, Ägypten, Thailand, Dominikanische Republik, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Martin, St. Andre, Antigua, u.v.m.
